How much do you charge? I can't

How much do you charge? I can't
find a price on your website.
Unfortunately there is no way I
could list a single price as
each booking will be priced
differently and will be
influenced by many factors such
as;
The time of event - if it's an
afternoon event, it will be
cheaper than in the evening;
Which day - Friday, Saturday &
Sunday will be more expensive,
as it is considered a peak time;
Which month - June, July,
August, September and December
are peak season and will be
generally be more expensive;
Location of event - see the my
travel section below;
How long you will want me to
perform for - I usually perform
for 2 hours, as that is normally
enough, there will be a small
additional fee if you want
longer;
Do you have any requests? - I.e.
costumes, large amounts of
Pyrotechnics. 'Giveaway' tricks
for kids.
If you send me an email, fill
out my customer enquiry form or
give me a call on 07816759789,
we can discuss your needs and I
can individually tailor your
quote. |

Where are you based and how far
do you travel?
As a Professional Magician,
travel is one of the necessary
evils of the job, so although I
am based in Southampton, there
is not enough work in the one
area. Because of that I travel
all over the UK following the
work as it were, I normally
average about 500 miles a week,
Luckily I am a big music fan,
and enjoy spending time with
music collection on the road.
(Whatever did we do without the
IPod?)
One of the bonuses of all the
travel is that I get to catch up
with a lot of friends and
family, I have friends and
family all over the UK, so there
is normally a warm bed/sofa
nearby if I need to relax and
have a catch up drink with an
old friend!
If you want me in Ulaanbaatar,
Lima or Accrington, it’s not a
problem; I always enjoy going to
new places and meeting new
people. |

How many of my guests will you
be able to deal with?
Generally speaking one magician
can entertain guests, in about 2
hours or so, during a 3 course
meal, but doing a few more is
not impossible.
Also it is not unheard of for me
to perform at a small gathering
or a dinner party for 8 guests.
Large or small functions are
easily catered for.
I have also performed at very
large events, (Southampton Boat
Show & Canary Wharf Shopping
Centre) performing with other
very talented magicians, if
required I am more than happy to
recommend enough Magicians to
cater for several hundred
guests. |

Do you perform at children’s
parties?
The Simple answer is no, I have
nothing against children; I have
two of my own!
However I have spent over 10
years perfecting close up magic,
utilising sleight of hand, and
humour which is directed towards
at the 18+ age range. It isn't
that children do not understand
what I am doing; my magic works
brilliantly for example at a
wedding breakfast with say two
children at a table, as the
adults seem to enjoy watching
the children’s reactions.
The main reason is that if you
were to sit 20 or so children in
front of me, the type of
sophisticated close up magic,
wouldn't hold their attention
long enough. If you are after a
recommendation please ask as I
know many talented children’s
magicians. |

What If I have Children
attending?
As I mentioned above, it isn't a
problem, and I do enjoy
entertaining very young children
with a few tricks that they will
understand, or thoroughly
confusing the know it all’s of
the bunch, the teenager!
I always carry a selection of
tricks, and I am even able to
show them a very basic magic
trick! Nothing to complex, I
have enough competition! |

How far in advance do we have to
book you?
Like the pricing it is a
difficult one to answer, I think
taking a booking more than two
years in advance would be pure
folly, summer and Christmas can
be very busy times for a
magician, but also cancellations
happen, and I have had phone
calls in the morning for that
night and been able to do them.
The best option is to get in
touch with me and have a chat,
but if you think that your event
will be at a peak time, then try
and book early to avoid
disappointment. |

Can we meet you beforehand?
Absolutely, as I mentioned
earlier I have friends and
family all over the UK, and
travel a lot, so I will normally
be passing not too far from you
within a few weeks. I have
absolutely no problem coming to
your house/place of work and
meeting you, to have a chat
about what I can do for you.
And of course showing you a
little bit of magic, so you can
see what I do, there is also a
video that will let you know
a little bit more about me. |

I have a deaf/hard of hearing
guest; will what you do be
suitable?
Most defiantly, with what I do
being very visual, it works well
with the hard of hearing/deaf,
and foreign guests.
With a little bit of
acting/miming on my behalf, hand
gestures etc, it is very easy to
communicate to anybody, most
people have seen some form of
magic before and understand the
basic concept of it.
I have had a lot of practise at
this, especially when the DJ is
playing the music very loud, and
the person next to can’t hear
what I am saying. |

What about references?
I have performed for a great
deal of people over the years,
and I am sure that any of them
would be willing to give me a
good report! If you look around
the website then you will wind a
few quotes from previous clients
who have been more than happy
with my work. |

Will you work abroad?
I have been all over the globe
with work in the last 15 years,
covering a lot of ground between
the USA and Singapore, I haven't
got as far as New Zealand yet,
or Hawaii. I thoroughly enjoyed
everywhere I have been, and
would jump at the chance to back
my bags and head off again. (As
I said, I have 2 kids) |

What if you are ill/cannot
attend the event?
Well I haven't missed a booking
because of illness yet, I’m a
bit like Gene Kelly (not the
dancing) in singing in the rain,
when he had a temperature of
102f, I think as an entertainer,
well as they say the show must
go on, but normally adrenalin
takes over and you forget what
ever ailment bothers you. If
there is a major problem, I will
be able to find another talented
Magician, who will be happy to
fill in. |
